What Is Tizanidine Used For

Tizanidine is used to relax certain muscles of the body. Tizanidine is used to help relieve, although not cure, muscle spasms caused by medical conditions such as multiple sclerosis or injuries to the brain or spine.

How To Use Tizanidine

Tizanidine tablets should be taken orally with a glass of water. Remember, when taking Tizanidine or any prescription drug to always follow the label closely. Be sure to space your doses evenly and do not take more than directed.

  • Birth control pills
  • Medicines for mental depression or other mental disorders
  • Benzodiazepine or sedative medicines for treating anxiety or to induce sleep
  • Antihistamine medicines for colds, hay fever or allergies

For example, drugs that you are currently taking along with Tizanidine may interact with each other. Inform your healthcare prescriber if you fall into any one of the following categories below:

  • Use any other legal or illegal drugs or substances
  • Consume alcohol or caffeine on a regular basis
